This patent pending project was developed with Ofer Bergman at the Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya (and was accepted to and presented at CHI2000).

The application enables a user to easily watch a movie and create a textual summary of the movie at the same time. The power of the user interface was in the fact that the user does not need to explicitly "tell" the application anything- they just enter text and the system does everything else for them (link the text to the video in point, create a visual icon to represent the section, and set the out point). The only explicit "command" the user needs to remember is the escape key which designates when a section is finished.

Our testing showed that users took no more than 5 minutes to learn and feel comfortable with the applicatiion.

The main interface allows the user to control and view a video while writing text about it
at the same time. As they type, new summary entries are hyper linked to the video
section and added on the right.

Once done, a user can use the "arrange" mode to quickly set up a presentation of the
movie according to their summary. Searching the text summary allows
quick navigation in the video itself.
